I want to perform test about anti-tumoral activity of triple dozen of plant extracts, with reference compounds.
I have been told that before doing anything, I better choose the statistical test I want to use (Anova, post-hoc, ...).
The aim is to
1. Know whether of the extracts is the most active.
2. Compare the extract to the reference compounds.
What is the suitable statistical method to use.
With statistical software should I use for example, I am asked to indicate the independent variable and dependant. What do these variables mean? Thank you
How many compounds do you want to test? You say in your post, triple dozen. Does that mean 36?
How many dose levels do you want to test?
How many samples can you test?
An area in statistics is called Design of Experiments. In this area, you will find a type of experimental design called a Mixture Design. This design allows you to test multiple chemicals simultaneously while cutting down on the number of subjects you need to use. The designs are more powerful than a typical one-factor-at -a-time method most scientists use. This means you can get better results, faster, and with greater accuracy and learning about possible interactions between the chemicals.
Once you have an idea about how the chemicals react in your experiment, you can move up to an I-Optimal design afterward to get a better picture of what is happening.
The chemicals you want to test are your independent variables. Your response is the dependent variable.

I roughly want to test about 50 plants extracts, coming from about 20 plants.
for each plant, I will make hydroalcoolic extracts, and for each extract, i will test their
antioxidant activity at 4 different dose levels.
