I am using a relative index of inequality to assess health inequalities yin unmet need in family planning. Whereas I understand the steps to calculate this I am finding trouble with commands.
Steps include
1. Ranking individuals in each socio-economic position indicator (age, wealth index, education level and geographical location) while accounting for group size using weighted ridit scores.
2. Running a logistic regression w to regress obtained relative ranks in each socio-economic position indicator on the binary outcomes (yes/no for unmet need for spacing, unmet need for limiting and total unmet need)
You can use the stata command "generate index".

I would advise you to use Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to define the weight of your variables in your index.

In doing this type of work I normally useD something like the GINI index, working out the data in a spreadsheet, usually Excel. At one time I used SPSS. I then take the result and add it to the map based on a coordinated column, “Name,” that identifies the census tract, electoral district, school district, etc.
