I am working on the natural products for antioxidant. Normally, methanol is considered as better but i have different results. how somebody can explain it.
Polar solvents are frequently used for recovering polyphenols from plant matrices. The most suitable solvents are aqueous mixtures containing ethanol, methanol, acetone, and ethyl acetate. Ethanol has been known as a good solvent for polyphenol extraction and is safe for human consumption. However, as far as your question is concerned, methanol would be a better choice. Concentrations between 70 and 80% are regarded as appropriate. See the attached.
