which would be more effective in treatment or protection from Anxiety : unselective beta blocker as Propranolol or selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist as Bisoprolol ?
"Beta Blockers: Patients often react differently to different beta blockers. However, bisoprolol should be more selective and have less of an effect on the beta receptors in the lungs so if you have a choice and cost is not an issue, you might want to consider bisoprolol over propranolol."
There are obviously very specific step-wise approach to management of General anxiety disorder and others such as PTSD - see NICE guideline for example- https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/cg113/resources/generalised-anxiety-disorder-and-panic-disorder-in-adults-management-pdf-35109387756997.
While beta blocker (propranolol) are sometimes used (particularly to manage somatic symptoms such as tachycardia) I have not seen use of bisoprolol for anxiety.
