- The MODIS instrument does have thermal channels, but the spatial resolution (1000 m) is too coarse for your purpose.

- The Sentinel missions are also unlikely to help, as Sentinel-1 is a microwave mission, Sentinel-2 offers data at high spatial resolution but only in the visible, near-infrared and SWIR regions (not the thermal domain), and Sentinel-3 does exhibit thermal channels but again at 1 km spatial resolution.

- GeoEye does not provide measurements in the thermal domain.

The only answer to your question is to use Landsat-8 data. Please note that the thermal measurements are actually acquired at a spatial resolution of 100 m, but these are resampled to match the resolution of the visible channels (30 m). You will find more information on this sensor here:

Read this thesis on landsat images to surface temperature finding. Use Erdas imagine/ Envi for calculating surface temperature. Read this thesis chapter no four where you find formula to calculate land surface temperature through landsat images.

In Envi, Erdas and PCI sw there are algorithms for the extraction temperatures  from Landsat data; also ILWIS (free sw) has a conversion procedure of radiance values into temperature values of brightness; the  T brightness is defined as the apparent T of an object or portion of the Earth's surface

ASTER images are of 90 m spatial resolution, and they are FREE of charge - have a look at the attached link. 

I believe there are also VIIRS lst data available, however, the quality of the products is unknown.

I think Landsat 8 is good data for Land surface temperature Mapping. MODIS data is also used. I attached some paper for Your desire study

Landsat (L8 -1001 m or L7 - 602m or L4-5 - 1203 m ‑ evry16 days)  FREE data;

1 TIRS bands are acquired at 100 meter resolution, but are resampled to 30 meter in delivered data product.

2ETM+ Band 6 is acquired at 60-meter resolution, but products are resampled to 30-meter pixels.

3 TM Band 6 was acquired at 120-meter resolution, but products are resampled to 30-meter pixels.

But ASTER SWIR data acquired from late April 2008 to the present exhibit anomalous saturation of values and anomalous striping

As from the Michel M. Verstraete and Tea Duplančić Leder  you may able to conclude that only landsat provide solution of your problem

Now i recomend you to  download landsat images from usgs earth explor and watch some you tube video on how to download landsat images from usgs. 

These images are of 30*30 m of spatial resolution. If you have arc map or Erdas imagine software you can process these landsat images to calculate land surface temperature.

Here i am attaching a thesis, please read its chapter no 4 where you got how to calculate land surface temperature from landsat images.

If you want to process (near) excisting temperature, I recomend you to use Landsat data. You can use simple methode or SWA methode to get Land Surface Temperature.

Dear Majid,

This question will vary depending on the scale you are going to study. You can work with Modis (250-500-1000m) if you are working on very large areas. If you are working on a local scale you can work with Landsat 8 (30m).

Landsat 7 thermal has stripping errors yet it has the Higer resolution of 60m and landsat 8 band 10 with higher resolution of 100m I read somewhere it gives four degrees celcius higher temperature and band 11 about 8 degrees due to straylight issues. So you wonder which is better.
