All Poaceae are ideal. Brachiaria and Zea mays allow high rates of AMF colonization.

Very interesting question and equally interesting answers are pouring . I feel , amongst perennial fruit crops, Litchi chinensis is a AM trap crop, where you will find maximum AM- diversity within rhizosphere of litchi.
The other question i have is also, what if we mix Brachiaria humidicola and Sorghum sudanese on the same pot?will increased trap plants richness increase trapped AMF species?
To what an extent , AM- diversity will increase , soil fertility will also dictate , but any AM-dependent crop( observed by colonization of root volume , glomalin secretion , SOC , antioxidants ) will facilitate proliferation of Am-diversity , that much I am sure Fisseha.
Dr. A. K Srivastava sir is very right that Litchi is a good trap crop among perennial. But if you want to multiply,l annuals are better. 2ndly, problem I face is exhaustion of nutrients in case of pot culture/ continuous multiplication in pots. Trap crop like maize, ragi etc are very exhaustive. Maintenance of mother culture of AMF strain become difficult. What's the solution to this problem.
Very rightly you said Dr Vinod Kumar . That is where we need to develop a substrate where AMs diversity could be artificially ensured taking acre of nutritional requirements , and then to be engineered within the rhizosphere of targeted crop , popularly called Substrate Dynamics. however , it will be more interesting to know , is there any microbe at species level or at community level that have synergistic effects on AM-proliferation . Therefore , look at some complimentarity between AM and other group of microbes.
Dear Dr Belay in my experience I used Brachiaria decumbens and reported percentages of root colonization of between 80 to 90% for the genera Acaulospora, Scutellospora, Entrophospora and Glomus. Brachiaria spp. It will be a good choice. As I stated earlier all poaceae are excellent for the development of mycorrhizal symbiosis.
