I want to target chemosensory neurons of NTS (Nucleus solitary tractus) of wistar rat and the coordinates I have selected are AP -13.5 to 14.7 mm (From Bregma), ML -0.8 mm from midline and DV 7.8 mm from skull surgace (Paxinos and Watson Atlas).

But various sub regions of the NTS have different coordinates and I want to specifically target chemosensory neurons and I am not sure if all the neurons are chemosensory or just commissural part of it have these neurons.

Additionally, please let me know whether NTS is heterogeneous (containing multiple neurotransmitter synthesis enzymes) or just cholinergic ?
