I want to purchase COMSOL multiphysics, but modules prices are bit high therefore, I want to be selective and focussed. I want to simulate MOS, p-n and p-i-n structures based silicon optical modulators with optimization techniques if available in COMSOL
You will need "Semiconductor Module" + "Wave Optics Module" definitely. You may also need "Optimization Module". On the other hand you can freely discuss your problem with COMSOL representatives, they will help you much. You can even get a temporary license to see whether it fits you.

I advice you to work with LUMERICAL solutions package (www.lumerical.com). this software has four part. 1th DEVICE for any electrical simulation(such as pn, pin, mos, sollarcell, electro optic modulator) with a simple environment software as well as High performance. 2th FDTD any optical simulation with the ability information import from other part of software such as DEVICE, in order to work on species modulator or sollarcell or photodiode.... . The last word :LUMERICAL is optic package only...
