It is interesting to ask such questions on modelling. In my views, no model provides the best solution. For example if IFAD's model would be considered the best, by now livelihood challenges would be have been met. So, i feel one need not get bugged down by models, but bring use them to get insights. I would suggest to explore using IFAD's model.
Hi Naveed. If you mean the determination of employment or labour market status then we traditionally consider multiple competing outcomes such as paid employment, self-employment, unemployment, in education, and various other types of not in labour force. For this type of outcome a multinomial logit model would be appropriate with these categories as a variable you are trying to explain by personal characteristics such as age, gender, education and family background. Hope this helps? Cheers, Marc
If you mean the modelling tools for determining and prioritizing livelihood options, then you can have a look at one of our publications below. We used some systems dynamic modelling tools to facilitate the process.
We also had other case studies using the same systems approaches and similar tools.
Kind regards,
Tuan

there are different livelihood appraoches (UNDP, Oxfam, DFID), which differ slightly from each other. They are all suitable to design a research project. Best is to define indicators to measure the different livelihood capitals.... Important is also to find good ways to measure people's vulnerabilities to estimate what could put the livelihood sources at risk.
