Perhaps you could state what you intend to study in neuronal cell model ?
PC12 cells are excellent for studies on exocytosis and neurite outgrowth. See the article on SHSY5Y cells,

If you are interested in a specific neurodegenerative disease, you may be better off trying to obtain IPS cells harboring that disease. Primary cultures of neuronal cells are not difficult, however they require live rodents but allow you take advantage of many readily available transgenic and knockout models.
