GC Detector Chromatography Benzene
Madam, I think FID. It has a sensitivity of 0.1-10ng for C-H compounds (with a linear range of 107). This PDF may be helpful to you

If you can, go for an MSD. You not only get good sensitivity but also selectivity. This means, what you analyse will really be benzene.
It depends mostly on your enrichment device in front of the GC. You can go easily down to ppb and even ppt range if you use a trap. For benzene it should be even ok to use an adsorbent, so you dont need liquid nitrogen or CO2 for the trap.
I recommended FID (flame ionization) detector. It's an universal detector dedicated mainly for C-H compounds. You can also use MS (mass spectrometer).
FID! Easy, cheap and sensetive for your task :-)
It all depends on what the matrix is and whether anything in the matrix interferes with the benzene peak on the chromatogram.
Without knowing that, any recommendations are guesses.
If you have a clean matrix with no interferences then an FID certainly has a low enough limit of detection.
If there are substances in the matrix that interfere with the benzene peak then the selectivity of mass spectrometry will be required.
Sample preparation is always critical.
Thank you all for your help
