It might be weak acid and acid salt, cation exchange and the existence of organic matter lead to the acid buffer capacity of soil. However, it was still confused me that which component results in the cation exchange reaction. Clay, quartz or some other inorganic matters? Could I use aluminosilicate as the standard chemicals which contributed to the cation exchange reaction？Any literatures？

I had received the presentation, it told me clay colloid and organic matters （humus）lead to the cation exchange reaction. But how to describe the reaction or investigate the main chemicals in the clay is still a question. Is there some experiments which had confirmed the reaction? Whether it is reasonable to use aluminosilicate which represented the clay colloid? Thank you so much!
