Recently, I am interested in the acid buffer capacity of soil, clay, dust and ash. I want to use model compounds to estimate the which compounds really works in soil to show strong acid buffer capacity. However, i am not familiar with the knowledge in soil science or related literature. Can you suggest me some successful works on investigating the factors of soil acid buffer capacity?

The pH buffer capacity of soil is related to the properties of the clays and organic matter, in particular to how the charge changes with pH itself. The topic is quite well understood, and there is an extensive literature, though not recent. Try looking in the 1960s.
It will not be possible to make perfect simulations of these complex solids.
In some studies of soils like sorption of pollutants it has been used to reconstruct the soil by adding finely grinded minerals and pure clay possibly supplemented with standard humic and humin materials according to the content of each component found in a soil by basis soil analysis using spectroscopic and other chemical analysis.

Chemical analysis of soil must be the first step. But for me, I want to talk about the main chemical composition which contributed to the buffering capacity of soil. It might be cation exchange, weak acid ,salt buffer or organic matters exisistence. I am confused how to do the research on investigating the buffering capacity of soil.
