I am running a project where I am studying the effects of number of siblings on the academic performance of children. This essentially involves presence v/s absence of siblings in a family and basing my research on resource dilution hypothesis. I am trying to seek academic performance scales for the same.
In the UK, one might use the national curriculum attainment levels. It might be appropriate to use the equivalent standard attainment measure in your country.
Certain states require 'core' curriculum testing for certain grades, this may or may not help you answer you question, but in North Carolina children are tested to see if they've reached their academic performance requirements for their grade level. To test based on whether performance is effected by lack of or presence of siblings would be hard to test. I can speak from experience that children with siblings tend to learn by what their older siblings teach through word and deed. Example...if the oldest sibling has a speech disorder such as phonological processing disorder, the younger will pick up a speech disorder similar in nature because they pattern their learned skills after their sibling. I am not saying that it is true 100% of the time, but I have seen it 4 out of 6 times.

@Jani: So do you also imply that higher academic performance of elder sibling will motivate the younger one to achieve more and similar for lower academic scoring siblings? And what exactly does "core" curriculum testing mean? And thanks for your reply :)
In the Uk, the standard attainment measures are done by age (year group) At every point in a child's time at school, a teacher will be able to tell (or assess) a child's attainment level that is determined by the National Curriculum. Since you are not based in the UK, I can tell what will be equivalent in your case. It will have to be determined by the age, year group, and the curicullar targets the child is expect to achieve.
You will need to find out from the schools how they test the children's performance and attainment, then adapt it to suit your research.
For instance, for an 11 year old child in the UK, the End of Key Stage two SATs will be a good assessment measure to use and so forth.
@Gideon: Okay, this sounds interesting!. The schools in Mumbai test their students performance through the syllabus devised by the respective boards (such as state, central etc). I shall find out about the curricular targets out here. Thank you :)
