I am currently working in a project were we are measuring the relative telomere length (qPCR) of buccal cells of a population in order to assess the possible effects of a exposure we are interested in.

When reading about telomeres, the literature is kind of overwhelming regarding the number of environmental and physiological factors that influence telomere length (some of them, like smoking, are pretty standard, but some other may be a bit controversial according to the consulted literature).

I would like some advice about the factors I should normalize my data for in order to do proper statistical analyses and get more realible results. Can anyone help me?
