Need to upgrade our laboratory. To provide a timely diagnosis of various bacterial, viral, fungal and mycobacterial infections and do epidemiological typing of various nosocomial pathogens.
I totally agree with Jos. Maldi-Tof is the technology of choice in clinical labs. Both Bruker and Biomerieux have outstanding systems adapted to the clinical microbiology lab.

For Clostridium difficile infection laboratory diagnosis, the latest recommendation is to use glutamate dehydrogenase EIA or NAAT (detection of DNA toxigenic strains) as the first step and when positive, toxins A/B EIA as the second step. See: PMID: 27460910 or PMID: 29269092.
For C. difficile isolates typing, the capillary electrophoresis-based PCR ribotyping is the method suitable for typing of a greater number of isolates. See: PMID: 25679978 . For the determination of genetic relatedness of isolates belonging to the same ribotype you can use MLVA. See: PMID: 17166961 .
