In India we have separate environmental laws and PIL supports these laws as they conform principles of morality and justice. Environmental rights are human rights.

Public interest litigation means a legal action initiated before the Court of Law for the purpose of enforcement of general interest of public.

Thus in India Public interest litigation has always been important option where a legal wrong is threatened to the persons who are poor and unable to approach the court.Art.226 of Constitution of India the application can be moved for seeking judicial redress.

Such legal environment is not prevailing in Nigeria?
