Plant based polysaccharides are reported to have a big list of pharmacological activities as evidenced by the scientific literatures. I wonder how is this possible when all of them have molecular weights on higher side?
I have recently found that large molecular-weight Fucoidan (Sulphated Poly-Fucose) derived from edible brown alga of "Mozuku" has been actively transported without showing any digestion (please see file; JCB Fucoidan transport).
Interestingly, human cellular-component polysaccharides such as Chondroitin sulphate C and Hyaluronic acid have been transported passively without any digestion.
