Dr. Kochhar, definitely gene rich areas would be losing agricultural biodiversity soon. The major reasons are:

1. More human population growth in that area

2. Habitat destruction

3. Land use changes due to rich soils in that area

4. Changes in atmospheric CO2 concentration

5. Global worming/ climate alterations

6. Pollution

7. Introduction of exotic species

8. Changes in nitrogen cycle.

The time scale depends on the population growth and it is estimated that 10 billion population in mid-21st Century and 12 billion population by 2100.
