I am looking for a colored version of a patent. Its black and white version is blur. Please tell me where I can find a colored or an improved copy of a patent? Thanks
The drawings/figures in patents/patent applications are all in black and white. This is a requirement and it is unlikely you will find any coloured version. Some design patents may have colour, but is not common either.
I agree with Eugene, that is the provision in the patent act, all figures in black and white, but you could try looking for a publications, most patents are followed by a paper publication by the inventors, you could find colored figures in the publications.
As with the above current (emphasis on current) are black and white. Nonetheless refer to https://www.wired.com/2012/08/the-history-and-artistic-degredation-of-patent-drawings/ (this was on one of the RG posts https://www.researchgate.net/post/Does_anyone_know_anything_research_literature_about_the_history_of_drawings_illustrating_patents_descriptions_of_inventions).
Old patents did allow for color)
In the article it states "Eventually, the USPTO enforced a rule that patent drawings must be done with black ink in order to make them easier to reproduce" . It is also my impression that other patent offices did follow this line of reasoning.
