The mtDNA COI of Brontispa longissima can be amplified with the universal COI primers C1-J-2195 (50-TTGATTTTTTGGTCATCCAGAAGT-30) and TL2-N-3014 (50-TCCAATGCACTAATCTGCCATATTA- 30; Simon et al. 1994), and the ITS gene of B. longissima can be amplified with the universal primers 18SRCP (50-TCCGTAGGTGAACCTGCG-30) and 28SRCP (50-GTAGTCTCACCTGCTCTG-30; Huang et al. 2006, Tang et al.2014).
