contact with the editor if you do not have an answer in the time that the journal has as limit to answer, if the editor does not answer then it is a bad review
I have never faced such a situation in my academic life, therefore I have no any idea about it. In my case, all journals have timely responded to my queries relating to the submitted manuscripts.
Mail the editor.. U may do that at interval of one month each for three occasions to clear your mind that you have try. If still no reply from the editor at least to give you status of your manuscript then withdraw your paper and send to more suitable journal... When ever the formal journal reply, send a cancellation or withdrawal letter to journal and give reason for the withdrawal in clear and humble mind..
UGC, or University Grants Commission, the government agency that funds and approves Universities in India and the credentials of academic professionals employed there and in affiliated undergraduate colleges, recently published a list of 4,305 journals on its website. The preface to the list states that they have been removed from the list of UGC approved journals. The decision has been made by a Standing Committee on Notification of Journals. The job has been carried out with such meticulous inefficiency that it is hard to take the list seriously. The point may be established with a simple exercise, easy enough to be carried out by any internet literate individual. But it is useful, at the outset, to see what the list wishes to accomplish. Let the technique of how to interrogate it appear in due course. The Committee had to reassess every journal recommended by the universities and also those listed in Indian Citation Index, following complaints by faculty, researchers and other members of the academic community, along with the press and media representatives. The complaint, as well as the ground for cancelling their approval, was broadly that these journals were of poor quality, or that they supplied incorrect or insufficient information or made false claims. It is helpful to be clear about what the criteria for selection as a UGC approved journal are. There are two ways in which a journal may be included. The first appears to be a default entry route. If a journal is already part of a credible citation index, or belongs to an elite database of journals accredited or indexed by a credible regime of indexation, it may walk into this list. For instance, journals already indexed in, or with, Web of Science (Science Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index and Humanities Citation Index) or Scopus or Indian Citation Index probably finds a default entry, provided the claims to this effect are verified. Journals recommended by UGC Standing Committee and Language Committee, along with those recommended by Universities too find a place, but with a rider. The total number of journals approved by UGC hovers around 32,000, or so claims the document explaining the methodology of selection.
You can Send cancellation or withdrawal letter during the process of sending ur work to another to see whether they would respond. If they do not respond then go ahead with appropriate journal that would give u light on the status of your paper...
Dear sirs, this is very interesting topic because myself is also publishing one journal of krishi vigyan . My experience says that authors do not read instructions or guidelines for authors before submitting the research paper and if you once reject their paper, again they will send it thorough online or email. Under such situations, the committee members do not respond otherwise, there is no reason that editor of a journal remains mum. There may be some limitations for a editor of not responding to the queries of authors, generally it is not like so.
Everything depends on the exam time they have set for the manuscript. If it's six months for example, and after six months they have not answered you, you make them a polite mail indicating that they have not respected their deadline and that you want to withdraw your manuscript from their Journal. They will ask you to wait and explain why you do not have an answer yet, but you have the right at this time to withdraw your manuscript from their Journal if you wish.
