This is a great question, Monika. You should apply for permission while writing the manuscript. Most likely you will get the publisher's permission within 7-10 days. You need to state in the article the source of the figure and that permission was obtained from the publisher. The publisher will ask you for an acknowledgment;, may provide you with the statement. On submission of your paper, you should submit together with the copyright and cover letter, etc., you should submit the letter of approval from the publisher.
