we need to move beyond talking about the environment, as this leads people to experience themselves and Earth as two separate entities and to see the planet in terms only of what it can do for them.

Change is possible only if there is a recognition that people and planet are ultimately one and the same.

The practice of mindfulness helps us to touch Mother Earth inside of the body and this practice can help heal people. So the healing of the people should go together with the healing of the Earth and this is the insight and it is possible for anyone to practice.

I don't know whether mother nature knows all, but certain I know the ONE  who created nature knows all. The ONE put laws in nature to cure and heal itself. We, high energy technology equipped, are not alone to damage or pollute nature, even primitive humans destroyed nature also at a grand scale. For example, man put jungles on fire for game and destroyed vegetation cover on a large scale. However, laws in nature cannot mend it immediately, if damage is severe and continues. It leads to extinction because cleansing processes of the nature cannot cope with this continuous damage and pollution.

 Mother Nature holds the key to health and well-being in much the same way that our actual mothers do. She is the first place we turn to for the raw ingredients for many medicines. She is the place where we feel most relaxed and ‘healed’.

Perhaps because of this, in the wider world, we tend to be the first ones to voice concerns about the environment, to organise groups, to campaign, to take a stand against anything that we feel threatens our health and our world in such a fundamental way. We are also the ones most likely to choose natural alternatives for everything from food to medicines, to cosmetics to clothes.

Dr Biswas , you have beautifully integrated science with philosophy . Mother Nature can smell anything and everything that happens around her, especially terrestrial ecosystem . The so called vagaries of climate change  , the hottest agenda in any scientific platform,  has already made inroads so deep in our minds . Just take an example of rhizosphere microbial diversity within healthy plants versus diseased plants , you will find huge difference in their structural , metabolic and compositional differences , it is simply because of the sensitivity of the nature ( Soil is a part of it ) , it is because of the its own resilience , it is because of its own defense system   , what w e need , is to decode such language of communication of Mother Nature to plants , to animals , to atmosphere , to humans , and to ecosystem as a whole . My pleasure! Thank you for striking the right chord. Whatever we do successfully that's intentionally or unintentionally the reflection of Mother Nature's image. The so-called most sophisticated tools and technologies that humans can be proud of are inspiration or imitation of Nature's but can't that be superior to her. We have energy crisis because we bank on fossil fuels which are depleting and degrading/polluting in nature but natural processes are powered by clean, green and non-polluting solar energy. We have pollution because we do not have that much efficiency and optimization in technologies employed and processes involved. We face material crunch and have ever-increasing burden of wastes because we follow the linear approach of "take, make and waste/throw away", we do not cycle and recycle that through close-looping. We do not establish cooperation and symbiosis to deal with those problems The message is that we should borrow sustainability ideas and  principles from Mother Nature and try to replicate in human operations and enterprises.

I believe it comes down to, who's the master? Nature and her 4.5 billion years of evolution or our attempts at domination and the illusion of control as we manipulate nature in fundamental  ways. I believe to our universal folly.
