I am looking for hints of a deep evolutionary relationships between three families of viruses that share several conserved motifs across multiple genes. Any ideas on what effect viral genomic constraints or life history would have on convergence?
I have a publication known where the work was on study on the H1N1 major Antigenic Shift and drifts and it was found that despite of all the variations observed in all the flu types of all the major changes observed in the shifts the 2009 Virus had more evolutionary closer relation to the ones found in 1918. I shall post the paper's link.
The above paper is a one worked along with PAML 4.0 as a tool to find sites with high values of Positive selection. Later such sites were searched and there correlation with the structure was portrayed.
Thank you Gaurab, the papers were very helpful. The section on host-driven antigenic drift in the second paper was particularly helpful and gave me several ideas for incorporating estimates of positive selection in my study.
