I am looking for to find the best housekeeping protein suitable for my Western Blot. I want to detection of antioxidant enzymes such as CAT by Western blot analysis in plant samples.
Animal and plant cells are nearly the same except for a few aspects, i.e., cell wall, no MOTCs, vacuoles and specific energy factories in plant cells.
However the above cytoskeletal proteins are well conserved between the kingdoms. The proteins are typical house-keeping genes present in all cells, necessary for keeping cells alive. They have been used in many plant analyses, i.e., rice etc...... You could use GAPDH that is often used in animals. Your CAT MW is also larger than those of the two cytoskeletal proteins, and won't be a problem
