What's the number of Reads on researchgate?

Dear Researchgate,

I received a congratulatory message in July that I received 6000 reads on my publication of Ludwig's Applied Process Design for Chemical and Petrochemical plants, Volumes 1A & 1B, 5th edition by Elsevier. A few days ago in September the same message states 700 reads. Why is there a discrepancy in the numbers? This is rather confusing and will be grateful for an explanation.
