A new born baby is not in a position to understand verbal language. Children in their early infancy understand only few gestures, a few facial expressions, and a few sounds (of chimes etc.).

Hence, It'll be foolish for me to say anything to a new born baby. Rather I'd try to grab his/her attention by creating a few sounds and pleasing facial expressions.

My first attempt will be to make the baby to recognize me as someone close to him/her.
