I try to be as quiet as possible and overcome the situation without embarrassing anyone. I also try to gradually resolve the situation .

Self-confidence, do not feel before you that there is something to provoke you and feel you lack, which provokes you is a person who lacks many things.

Make happiness your first goal, do not make someone upset you mood because of simple words, life is simpler.

I will try to be patient and hold up my anger until I calm down.

When people provoke you, try distancing yourself from them and look at the provocation objectively to stay calm. The secret is to not get immersed in your own anger and, instead, have a more detached view.

When I come across situations and people trying to provoke me, I try to understand the intent and motive, and react calmly. I keep in mind the results of reacting hastily and try to distance myself from person/situation both emotionally and physically. By not reacting, I puncture the balloon of negative energy that is inspiring those people. There are situations and people who will provoke you and I have had my share of arguments (particularly when in public gyms, I felt some players tried to bully me, resort to trash talk, and provoke me so that my head is not in the game anymore.

I try to be calm and overcome the subject

First of all, I would advise you not to respond directly.

Take some time.

If you're still angry and upset after you've switched to something else, then try to talk to the person.

The language or expressions you use should be polite, indirect, and not intimidating.

By the time, the problem itself is often solved, and the other person's feelings are subdued, so you can have a more rational conversations with the person.

Nevertheless, if the other person doesn't relax or continues to be rude to you, just stay away from him/her. It's his problem, not yours. The person who intentionally ignores you treats others like that and makes them tacit enemies. It's meant to self-destruct.

You should not pay attention to provocations. Just do your job.

Maximum try to not to pay attention to provocations.

try to focus on aims and job. the person trying to provoke you will be noticed by boss or other persons and will be handled by suitable action.

That depends on how and whom they provoke.

If they are a satirist, artist, political activist, social worker, teacher, therapist or a craftsperson in any other profession that can use provocation as a tool, and they do a result-oriented, technically thought-out and effective job at provoking thoughts and perhaps even outcomes, and they put their name to their provocations and face the ensuing interaction, then I might call them a provocateur.

Nothing angers the provocateur more than calm and smile, i.e. demonstration of moral superiority. I am not an angel also, if I manage not to succumb to provocation, then I am very pleased with myself.

If I was provoked, I would prefer to keep calm down, everything will be Ok.

I'd be angry about that and I wouldn't be happy.

It depends on your degree of maturity and the situation. Many times we are explosive immediately, other times we have to be quiet so as not to cause greater damage. The most coherent is to ignore and try to quit in a subtle way, but showing with some body language that that provocation is not appropriate. In this way, perhaps the provocateur, feel more ashamed of what are doing.

Try to be calm if possible. If someone provoke an animal unnecessarily, then I cannot keep quiet.

I will try to hold my anger and to give the one who provokes me a moral lesson of how to deal with people in a civilised way.

Provocation almost invariably breeds anger. Naturally, the containment of anger in provocative situations is not an easy task. To practice humility and to avoid provocation , very often we fail to take control and adjust enough to please the perpetrator. However, we should never yield to the wayward demands of the self and we should try to make the attempt.

Unfortunately, I easily lose my temper.

In a community like RG, in which the truth of a statement - including a provocation - is defined by the degree of consent of the majority of members, the individual is mercilessly dependent at that majority. It does not matter whether this provocative statement is shameless and lying fiction. That's why I would try to leave this community without any attempt of contradiction or justification.

Because every attempt at justification makes the rejection of the community greater. The Bible says: "Crucify him, crucify him". The man was actually crucified because the majority wanted that way - no matter if he had done something bad or something good or nothing at all.

Dear Collealgue I am very touched that you give me such a personal and encouraging comment. If one has completed most of life like me, then the distance to the current events of science, discussion and controversy is somewhat greater than it was for me at a younger age. The answer I gave to the question was a very personal one. It is the lesson I have learned from an incident that happened 8 years ago when a real smear campaign against me and the book I had written was formed, and I experienced how the scientific public, normally the scene of tough but fair debate, suddenly became the moral death penalty through a certain form of staging. I didn't want to admit it and reacted, then of course emotionally. I just made everything worse - worse for me - with my attempt at justification. In such a case, a response is neither helpful nor enlightening. For me, contradiction in the scientific discussion is the guiding principle of scientific examination of the strength of theories. But when provocation is involved, the scientific level is abandoned and moral judgements are made - openly or indirectly - which are intended to destroy the attacked scientist. Such a thing is relatively rare, also on RG, but occurs occasionally. I then said goodbye to the thread without any problems and declared my part of the discussion over.

I trying to analyze and understand nature of conflict and then applying adequate strategy to solve conflict.

Add-on: This does not mean that you have to feel like a helpless victim after such a campaign. First, one can increasingly turn to research to reject opponents' claims as unfounded. Secondly, you have to remember that any insult that you have to endure when someone tries to provoke you personally is, by being pronounced, history again. I have a firm belief that further historical development will determine what is currently the subject of controversial debate. One needs a little more time and should not answer immediately and not too hotly. After some time and with new research and new arguments, an essay that was initially considered provocative is very invigorating. The starting essay which seems for many a too strong challenge shows now another face.

The progressive process of historicization suddenly gives the essay, which initially triggered provocations, a fixed place in the further progress of the problem history.
