I want to examine the performance of a column under eccentric compressive load, the stiffeners have to provide at both ends of specimen to avoid local failure, the specimen will be examined with the help of loading frame, load will applied from upper hydraulic jack, a plate will be provide at lower side, the specimen will be resting on that steel plate.
My doubts are,
1) What type of end conditions i have to assume?
2) What will be the effective length of that specimen?
3) Is there any provisions to provide stiffeners?

2- Is it uniaxial compression or eccentric compressive load ?
