Calcium bentonite is a kind of expansive clay which tends to increase the volume up to 9 % when we add some water to it. As per my knowledge, increase of strength is occurs as a result internal curing in concrete developed by swelling of bentonite. Kindly share the opinion that can I use partial replacement of cement with Calcium bentonite in concrete to increase the strength properties?

It is possible by calcining the calcium bentonite and treating with chemical like iron oxides. With these a concrete can be prepared with the help of calcium Bentonite.
The calcium bentonite due to the high surface area and water sensitivity, require a greater water / cement ratio compared to concrete without such addition. The effect of the high water / cement ratio coupled with the incorporation of a powdery material tends to reduce the strength of the concrete under normal conditions.
