What to do with cells when the incubator CO2 drops and you can't do anything else but to wait for it to be repaired?

Hello,

I wanted to know if there are any emergency techniques/protocols for the case in which the incubator's CO2 drops to values near zero, and you have to wait for several days with these levels of CO2. Is it possible for the cells to stay alive until the CO2 levels rise again to 5%?

Hi Adolfo,

Try to use another incubator in your department/building but make sure that your cells are not contaminated with anything and that the new incubator is not containing any contaminations.

If you don't have any backup for these cells, try to freeze them and re-vive them when your incubator is repaired.

if the above are impossible to have, try to lower your incubator temperature to 28C. It will can help by slowing the cell metabolism.
