Hello,

I am attempting to separate out the main microlithotype particles found in coal. The requirement is that the concentrated fraction needs to contain at least 80% (by mass) of a certain microlithotype particle type. These samples will be used in combustion experiments.

A laboratory Reflux Classifier was used to separate a coal into density fractions. The results for a derived fraction is attached (Table 1). The sample contains a mixture of particle types with a varying density range 1.41 to 1.54 g/cm3 and particle size range 10 to 1000 µm. I would like to obtain a sub fraction with a much tighter density range e.g. 1.53 to 1.55 g/cm3 in order to concentrate Particle Type O. Is this possible with other separating techniques e.g. using float-sink with heavy liquids, hydrocyclones, etc to obtain density class fractions with an interval of 0.01 g/cm3 ?

Thanks
