I made some hollow container of ABS or PLA by means of 3D printing. I used Acetone to etch and soften ABS. However, acetone evaporates after 1 day, so the ABS structure changes back to the original rigid type. Is there any chemical solution which can be used to lower the strength of ABS or PLA for a long period of time (prefer plastic deformation, not flexible)?

One of the best for solving ABS is CH2Cl2. Be careful when working with it. Anyway you can easily handle it.

Dear Hongliang Shi . For gluing ABS parts I use Ethyle-methyle-ketone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butanone). In higher concentration of EMK in ABS the efect of softening last longer than acetone.
