Hello,

I am investigating properties of water in oil emulsion explosives.

And adding hexamine (hexamethylenetetramine) into one of the phases that are used to make the emulsion should increase the sensitivity to detonation of the final product.

But I have not found anyone adding hexamine together with ammonium nitrate while the pH level is dropped adding an organic acid.

So, the question is what reaction will occur adding hexamine into ammonium nitrate and an organic acid (let’s say citric acid) solution? Let’s say the solution pH is around ~3 and hexamine pH is ~10. Both acidic acid and hexamine concentration in the final solution will be below 1% of the total mass

Thank you!
