Hi, the most important is that the phenol has to be adjusted to a pH of >7.8 with Tris buffer because the DNA partitions into the organic phase at acid pH.

No, SDS is ok for quite long time. When you prepare the solution heat it to 70-80 ° C to solubilize otherwise is almost impossible. Once in solution it is stable for long time, if it precipitates just heat it again.
Hi Rahul, the reagents that u hv mentioned are mostly organic solvents that dissolve different components of cell. They being solvents are less susceptible to contamination. However, u need to be careful about specific chemicals like Tris, EDTA, etc. generally used in DNA extraction which should be prepared in at least double autoclaved DNAse free DDW.
