I have measured the firing of hippocampal CA1 pyramidal neurons and I wondered where to set the threshold for assessing the number of action potentials occurring at a given amplitude injection. I originally set the minimum threshold to 0 mV, so that any action potential that peaked above 0 mV would be counted as an action potential. However some peaks occur just below 0 mV, so I was wondering if I should count it as an action potential, if it peaks above -10 or -20 mV.

Please help me understand where I should set the threshold as it is not clear in the papers I have read.
