This topic has been touched many times and it is still very current. It is difficult to determine what assessment system academics would be the best. Let us remember that among us are scientists, researchers conducting the classes and academics. A broad group, whose tasks are similar but different. Finding one size fits all is constantly sought. Then there are national conditioning, financing, availability of research and many other factors more or less important but significant.

The authorities try to find a uniform system for all the disciplines which is not possible I feel. This leads to undue quantification process.

This is quite a delicate question because education is a strategic field regarding not only the development of a nation but also the easy manipulation of future generations. Regarding Hungary, I have not seen or experienced a teacher evaluation system for university teachers. As to elementary and high school teachers, the government prepared an evaluation system but the Hungarian teachers keep to protest against it and have organised mass demonstrations with the help of a lot of parents.   I teach over 30 years in the Hungarian higher education but I have never experienced that somebody has been appreciated for his/her good and conscientious teaching and performance. Even the salary of university teachers is miserable. Some months ago 274 teachers of the finest Hungarian university (Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest) wrote an open letter to the minister of education – who is called “minister of human resources” - that the university teachers’ salary and working conditions are insupportable.  http://nol.hu/belfold/elviselhetetlen-allapotok-miatt-fakadt-ki-az-elte-274-oktatoja-1575969 In Hungary, 0.84% of the GDP was spend for higher education in 2013. Unfortunately this rate has not changed.  

In IITs (Indian Institute of Technology), for promotion of a regular faculty, good academic performance is really a basic need. It includes, number of PhD thesis supervised, number of M.Tech dissertation supervised, number of B.Tech projects guided,  number of publications preferably in SCI listed journals etc. Also, DST and other funded projects activities. I know some faculty members who even not have 6 years of experience but get promoted as associate professor from assistant professor because of their good academic performances. Also, there are some faculty who are quite experienced but not getting promoted because of there poor performances.

In Canada , more and more PAPERS (citations !@$#@$).

For the Supervisor , tenure , job safety , some level of funding , sabbatical leave (for collaborative  work) . Labs I have seen lacks infrastructure  & sophistication !!!

In the Faculty of Medicine, UNAM, Professor recently he migrated from being exclusively master promoter of learning. It is very likely still to groups of medical students some dogmatic teachers who still resist change are.

In this Faculty, in the year 2010 the work of curricular renovation were initiated new instructional diagnosis was made and plans and curricula were updated based on Based Learning Problem Solving (BLPS) and Skills Development (SD)

In the year 2015 it was completed implementing the new Curriculum and Study Plans and Programs. 2016 are officially in place and functioning optimally Curriculum for SD and BLPS strategy.

In parallel, the already engaged in workshops and training courses were updated teachers. New teachers were formed in accordance with the new Curriculum and in accordance with the Plans and Programs Study in force.

Considero un tema muy importante abordar hoy en dia.

sin embargo, podemos señalar que en los paises con mayor exito académico, se observa que la formacion de docentes se convierte en una Politica de Estado como es el caso de Singapur, Hong Kong, Finlandia, Canada, especificamente Toronto.se resalta que la evaluacion debe ser una especie de autoevaluacion donde lo  que realmente importa es la formacion y la autorregulacion de sus propias practicas pedagogicas, pero para llegar a ese nivel se requiere un cabmio radical a lo interno de las Facultades de Eduacion y los institutos de formacin de docentes en la mayoria de  los paises eso es lo mas dificil.

different institutions have different appraisal systems for academic staff. In our university, appraisal is divided into three parts,namely Teaching and Learning ( 40% weightage), Research, conferences and publications ( 40%) and community services (20%). There is a 360 degree system of appraisal including students appraisal, peer appraisal and finally , appraisal by the Department Chair.
