Government is providing funds under RUSA for improvement in higher education -Government Colleges and Universities and Aided institutions in the country.
Has it helped in bringing qualitative improvement in these institutions?
Do you think it can be extended to private institutions - unaided ones?
Can it be developed as a Model of PPP in higher education?
As per the RUSA document, greater emphasis will be laid on the improvement of the quality of teaching-learning processes in order to produce employable and competitive graduates, post-graduates and PhDs.
With respect to the planning and funding approach, some key changes are envisaged;
(a) funding will be more impact and result oriented,
(b) various equity related schemes will be integrated for a higher impact,
(c) instead of unplanned expansion, there will be a focus on consolidating and developing the existing system adding capacities and
(d) there will be a greater focus on research and innovation.

Definitely, the government funding under RUSA for improvement in higher education is very useful, the aspects could be
improvements in infrastructures and facilities (well established labs, computer rooms, internet-WIFI, well equipped library services, holding of seminars and symposiums on advanced topics, visits/exchange programmes for knowledge updation. There have to be upgradation programmes for the faculty members
Bright students get opportunity of visiting advanced centers
Definitely PPP partnerships is important and even private colleges/universities should be part of this important programme

RUSA is certainly a great initiative of the government to enhance as well as monitor the initiatives being taken by the institutions of higher learning. Based on the principle of an equal participation in the funding of new courses, programmes and adding infrastructural facilities, RUSA has given a definite direction to the efforts being made for the upgradation of teaching facilities and faculty in institutions of higher learning.
