I have to do some experiments on yeasts and I would like to make them use only the electron transport chain. What kind of medium could I use to make the yeasts use only oxidative stress and not fermentation?
You should use nonfermetable carbon sources like ethanol or glycerol, or you can use glucose at the concentrations lower 0,5% in order to avoid glucose repression of respiratory metabolism.
Agreed. Nonfermentable carbon source and aeration would encourage respiration over fermentation. If you need to use glucose make certain the concentration is low.
