We are currently cultivating 4G2 cell lines in DMEM supplemented with 10% FBS. We’ve noticed some mobile particles in the culture media, which we initially suspected to be bacteria. Despite the media being fortified with Gibco™ Penicillin-Streptomycin, these particles were present, albeit in small numbers. To verify if it was bacterial contamination, we transferred some cells to an antibiotic-free medium in the subsequent passage. Surprisingly, the growth rate did not match the typical rapid proliferation of bacteria. We are seeking advice on how to identify this mysterious organism. Can anyone provide insights?
