Knowledge in a particular area is important, but other skills are needed to cope with each profession after graduation. Sometimes these skills help even absorb certain knowledge.
The teaching profession is sacred and has a place in society. If it were not for the teacher, the teacher said in it, "The teacher is a teacher and he is a messenger." Teaching is like a message that a teacher or teacher must do with his or her safety and dedication. Because it makes successive generations depends on building the future teacher, not only transfer knowledge or give the skills of the basic function industry generations of beneficiaries, generations of builders of the future, it carries a message Semitic
We, at my college of public health, hold a seminar/workshop about which softskills are are important to pick during the higher education. We make sure many of those become cross-cutting skills across various courses. They include critical thinking, presentation, effective communication, networking, explaining scientific ideas to lay people and many other soft skills. Soft skills are extremely important in addition to competencies specific to the area of study, to ensure employability and career success.
The purpose of teaching must be the transformation of the personality and its adaptation to its environment. In addition, it must be aligned with institutional purposes and existing megatrends.
Every time there is learning in a higher level student, their abilities and attitudes undergo a modification, their thinking changes. We must try that this change not only impacts on himself, but on the community where he lives.
Finally, the purpose of teaching must be linked to the millennium development goals of each country and to the national plans for concerted development. It should never be just a teaching to learn, but it must be a teaching to transform.
Often, education is perceived as a certain amount of knowledge and skills. In my opinion, the level of education is not determined by the sum of these components. The results depend on basic properties of the personality (just about the thing, that plays a leading role, we can argue). People who know and can do quite a bit, but use it well, achieve frequently much greater success (I do not mean people who are "naturally educated without science" (I. Bunin)).
Education is the cause of the country's rise and development, so all countries of the world care about education, because they believe in the role of great education in the progress of the country, and all divine books have ordered us to seek knowledge. Education is the real weapon of every country. Scientific and innovations, and there are many benefits that benefit the learner himself and the most important: -
- Get a great deal of information
Education contributes greatly to helping a person get a wealth of information in a variety of areas. The educated person has enough information about space, health, economics and the media. He is a person full of useful information for himself and his family, which helps him to reach a prominent place in society.
That is precisely why I asked my question, because while I teach a certain discipline to raise students' motivation (intelligibility, applicability, etc.), I speak other things.
Human is not an archive of useful knowledge. Knowledge needs to be able to use. And this is not what is taught in universities, as rule. Creativity, the ability to use knowledge is transmitted "from hand to hand" by mentor - mediator. Sometimes such a mediator can be a professor, sometimes a senior colleague, and sometimes one of the parents or school teacher. But the university is not "sharpened" for mentoring. Sometimes this happens, but usually school of any level is focused on the formal transfer of the "volume of knowledge".
I’m not a great teacher, but I’ve had a few great teachers during my career.
What I’ve learnt from them is not only to share the knowledge you have, but also to teach your students to keep looking, keep learning and to always be willing to learn.
A friend of mine inspired and encouraged me to think, feel, and see things in their true perspective, through science, logic, and intuitive experience - I try to do the same with my pupils.
Sometimes students make me feel that they need guidance regarding soft skills, they wanted to hear and learn from my experiences (I generously share with them my experiences); it is two way, I have also learnt from them, many things like immersing my head into my smart phone,.....when something bothers me, and many techniques involving technology to deal with situations.....that are difficult....
The communication process is always two-sided. Students are young, partially immature creatures. Their relationship to each other is different from our youth. This is different information for me.
Thanks to those who have joined the discussion. With your answers, each of you has contributed to forming a new opinion and guidance in teaching and motivating young people.
Modern process of training demands not only transfers of new knowledge to students, but also formation from them practical skills. Students in the course of training have to gain the competences necessary for professional integration and social adaptation
Why can"t both be done? Team projects , problem solving, analysis, presentations, debate, etc, are very effective in developing content knowledge. Instructors only have to relinquish their roles as sage on the stage. Listen more talk less.
The goal of teaching is to convey a lofty message to the students, which is in addition to teaching, building a conscious generation capable of building a bright future and directing them towards the right path.
