A recent survey has significantly less than expected participation due to unrest at national borders and time constraints on nationals acting on my behalf in that country.  What is your opinion on taking 30 actual responses and multiplying them 7X to gain the necessary 200+ sample for SEM using SPSS? My prior research in the US has used SEM and the results could at least have some comparative value.  I feel that if I use another method, the X-->Y relationships will not be as readily distinguishable.  I would not normally do this which is why I am asking this question, but I do not want to lose  the data in hand.  Any thoughts/alternatives on this from a statistical perspective would be greatly appreciated. I think my head was so set on SEM that I have a blind spot on alternatives and want to look at this more objectively before I proceed.
