The policy in Brazil for the use of marijuana is extremely restrictive making research almost impossible. The researchers who do it in Brazil are basically heroes. But I am in favor of marijuana research for medicinal purposes. What is your opinion about this? In your country how is the search for marijuana for medical purposes?

Dear Lucindo,
in Germany, there is a current discussion about legalizing hashish for private use. In the Netherlands, the possession until 5 grams hashish is allowed. Actually, some societies demand, that marijuana and/or hashish shell be allowed for palliative therapy of patients (e.g. terminal cancer). I never heard from study results with marijuana - I think this would be a interesting issue.

I think we are evolving in Brazil for use, but we are incredibly restrictive for research. I want work with extracts of marijuana for chronic pain but I'd rather not even start because of the headaches with the Brazilian government. I hope may it become past ASAP.
