What is your local Agricultural Extension office actively (not just talking about) doing (to reduce the constant rise of synthetic chemical pollution in cropland, storm water runoff and in aquifers) in both the 1) commercial grower industry - and 2) the consumer (horticultural) market which accounts for about half of that total pollution?
They practice organic agriculture in order to reduce the menance of excessive rise in synthetic chemical pollution to crop land, storm water run off and aquifers.
What are the predominant methods for practicing organic agriculture? Do Nigerian farmers utilize extensive composting to produce leachates or use high-concentrate live microbial applications to foliar and the rhizosphere? No-till cover crops? What are organic methods are presently considered "best practices" in Nigeria? Is there much organic farming found in the coastal areas of Surulere and Lagos?
we in Kerala,(India) banned a lot of chemical pesticides and Kerala state government adopted an organic policy.there farmer's interest groups voluntarily practicing organic agriculture predominantly in plantation crops. they mostly use cattle manure,vermicompost,vermiwash,biodynamic preparations,IPDM,beneficial insects and microbes,organic and botanical pesticides etc to combat the situation.
In last five years we have seen peoples are only talking about chemical fertilizer and pesticide pollution but Nobody interested to do some thing .
in comparison other states including Maharashtra peoples and politicians are very lethargic ,
Andhra pradesh and Karnataka, Kerala peoples are doing something
Especially India is dominated by rural youth. We are concentrating in retaining the rural youth in agricultural sector. Thus now we are concentrating on evoking task force in Organic farming using rural youth.
In our strategic plans and policy making decreasing the chemicals in agriculture has been considered.The government has facilitated establishment of IPM privet sector clinics. Moreover, in the 5th national development plan 25% of our cultivation areas must be under the etiological farming. we also are going to support the farmers which are interested in using natural inputs by liberalization policy for chemicals in the country and shifting the supports to the un-chemical inputs.
