Trust is simple believe that means we should have faith someone without any hesitation. When you have faith, love and kindness towards someone, then you know that you trust someone. Yes, I am trust worthy. If you want to re-earn somone's trust, then love him/her without any expectation. Trust is built upon talking always honestly. If you tell a lie, you should worry about remembering it in order that your next talk should not contradict to it. This is simply and well expressed by the following quote:

Trust is the assurance we give to or receive from some one to depend on what we or some one does on behalf of common affairs, without preconditions. and therefore it may or may not demand honesty of behavior in general as an honest person is always trustworthy. Trust is probably temporary and decaying in time or lasting when it is from a person of honesty.
We may trust people with default whom we know culturally with some degree of caution (just by knowing the culture, we may put degrees of trust), while we may not trust people whom we do not know culturally. Two groups of people may have trust in each other to commit crimes for some considerable time but after, they may lose it and in fact may start to fight each other.
Trust that is either temporary or lasting has to be tested or verified through actions that proves it. We do know that we trust someone when we rely on them without doubts and yes indeed I am trustworthy. Losing trust from some one does not mean you default or failed in your characters but probably the person changes programs and goals and he/she does not need to continue associating with you as the person knows you are honest all the time regardless of the conditions, or it may be true that the person finds less dependable behaviors or faults and trusting you may have negative consequences.
Life, business and politics in most part do not demand trustworthiness of partners but compromise and finding the golden mean (regardless of trust). Politicians do not trust each other all the time but live in conditions of compromise. Business are no more trustworthy with certainty and the same thing in life.
In some cases it is the lack of common sense. :-))
But without trust is not possible to live.
Think 1-way trust relationship is from turstor to trusttee i.e. how much a trustor is trusting a trustee. I still recall this trust definition from Mayer et al. (1995) - trust is the willingness of a trustor to be vulnerable to action(s) of a trustee i.e. based on an expectation that the trustee will perform action(s) important to the trustor irrespective whether the trustor have the capability to monitor / control of the trustee.
Also agreed with other scholars' definitions & analogies on trust which are enriching. Think intuition generated during initial interaction & observation after a while of interaction can give some sense whether a trustor can trust a trustee.
Agreed trust-worthiness is an asset hard to earn & easy to lose that we need to continuously do the right things rather than to do the things right for rectification e.g. apologizing after telling lies. This doesn't mean we can't build up trust after apologizing but it will take more effort & longer time to earn back.
To build up trust in life, relationships, business and politics, think trust balance in our trust bank account and honesty do help. Moreover, we should "say what we will do and do what we say"

One way to be trusted is:
Honor your promises. Trust requires that people believe you will be dependable in the long-term.Thus, when you make someone a promise, you must keep it.
- If you truly cannot keep a promise you've made, explain face-to-face why you cannot do as you said you would.
- Especially if your promise was a major one, an explanation may not be enough. You may need make a new promise to make it up to that person. Be sure to keep this new promise, no matter what!

I think trust is perceivable, verifiable with subjectivity and objectively verified behavioral analyses... but it remains to be context specific... should not be generalized.
I think that "In God we trust" is a statement full of significance...,meaning that we should be good,, to have faith,love and trust...Do not mean to seem naive, just being idealistic...
It seems, most of the adult people trust their relatives and friends more than TV and Internet.
I try to help those who have made a mistake and lost the confidence, but my profession is not connected with any risks to life (except for a field work in some places :- ). If I were, for example, a surgeon, my claims to colleagues and students, sure, would have been more "rigid".
The trust is gained in the real life with persons we talk, hear, see... and for a Catholic person, the unity is obtained in communion with God. The trust between only persons without reference to God is relative and incomplete.

Trust is a process of confidence built on gained or proved honesty. We can gain others' trust throughout a long process of relationships, works and interactions with others, and we can loose it quickly by a small lie or mistake. Difficult to regain it after.
Trust is being a person of integrity, honesty and reliability one that you can tell anything to and it will never be disclosed. It is easily lost and very hard to regain as Fairouz has stated a small lie or a honest mistake can destroy it for ever. I would like to think that I am a good friend honest and reliable someone to trust however with trust comes responsibility and sometimes that trust has to be broken when the best interest of that person who has told you something is not being served. A good question and one that will return a multitude of different answers depending on how an individual view the aspect of trust its like a two edged sword.

I have often encountered trust problem formally addressed in the game theory (e.g. repeated strategic games), computer security research (e.g. blockchain) and economics (optimal contracts, auctions, signalling).
Trust has various meanings. If you trust a person then s/he is been honest & reliable with you. You or me may trust an idea such as: many things in life happen for a reason or that life has its "ups" & "downs". You may get a trust fund which gives you money ,if you are unemployed, in a welfare state. Wildlife trust tries hard to save lands for animals as natural protectorate...
In today's world, trusting few persons is the ordinary attitude. Trusting every politician is an indicator of naivety since the majority of them are bold liars.
In my view, trust in God is the top wise attitude. God does not act according to our timetables or plans but when I go over the past years of my life, I can see how wonderful He was with me. He has never ever let me down while humans can easily move from deep love to intense upsetting hatred with each other.

Many research efforts are focused on trust in others.
There are at least two kinds of trust. Particularized trust,, or trust in people close or similar to us, and Generalized trust, or trust in people we don't know.

In my own personal opinion, I think relationship is the foundation of trust. When you have a good relationship with someone, trust is built and earned. Being truthful and sincere in the relationship is also a good stepping stone when building trust or trying to gain back a trust that has been broken.
I believe the foundation of trust lies in love. If two people love each other unconditionally then they automatically trust each other knowing that they will not do any act to break each other's trust. Having said that I think for many this might seem like a hypothetical concept. But I certainly think there are some real people in this world who exist among us with whom real love and the fruit of it which is trust prevails. You will be lucky if you find someone like that.

Dear Hazim: There are great differences between trust, friendship and forgiveness. We can recognize the natural weakness of a friend and try to help him/her as much as possible. We must forgive him/her if he/she fails in his/her character, but (just) that does not mean that he/she is a more trustable person.
Someone that guides always his /her behavior on solid principles and universal values and not on his/her interests of the moment or cheap smartness or any other “weak parameter” as I heard from the first time from “my sister” Fairouz is surely trustworthy.
Dear Behrouz: The mirror should be always faultless. If it is broken put it in the dustbin and get a new one. When I was child I learned from my catholic education that we should recognize and regret with humbleness our sins, ask forgiveness and try to not sin again. Also we must forgive everyone. It is our duty. That orientation did guide all my life. I try always the best as I can in everything I do, but I haven’t the arrogance of being perfect (no mortal is).

It is about judgement of a person dear @Roland. I think real friends may judge us, as we are here to accept the judgement. It is because we do trust our friends. It should be mutual.
Surely, Dear Roland: If our behavior is always based on truth, correction and verticality, we do not need to care if the others trust in us or not. It is merely their problem, as it is their problem to behave correctly too.
