It is difficult question as we have not sound or not crucial evidences on relation between cancer and ingested food.Yes week evidences have stated that salt preserved foods can cause cancer .In such salt preserved foods by benzoate ,tartarate or some chemical food additives with suffix ine (formaline) ,processed sausage, fish, and vegetables.Scientific research untill now did not give us the acual and crucial mechanism.
Cancer is a very common problem worldwide and many researches are going on. So, The research findings are very available about cancers; though there is controversy. Some of the foods blamed to cause cancer are as follows:
Cancer is not caused by foods! Yes it has association to certain foods when we eat them in excess. Such foods include high fat foods, excessive alcohol consumption, excessive sugar consumption, caramel colors, and high fructose sugars. But consumption of the above foods and fairly high physical activity as well as consumption of some healthy diets such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains and other dietary fiber rich stuff may outbalance the effect of the former ones.
I think cancer is a more complex disease that is a result of many environmental stresses and life styles. Genetics also matters, Not just foods.
I agree with all the above researchers. Cancer is an outcome of various factors such as cell mechanism, environment, genetic, race, human activities, food and much more. With respect to food, I have observed that food act as a medium for many chemicals and contaminants, and may be biological material (in case of GMOs) which either participate in tumor generation or accelerate the cancer mechanism (by involvement in growth, development, endocrine related etc.processes). The compounds present in food individually and in combination may contribute in causing cancer. The type of food consumed, the contamination levels, the level of processing and cooking, the method of cooking etc. are some of the well listed factors which affect the overall presence and formation of such cancer causing compounds in food. Also, the guidelines for these compounds in food varies as per the food type. If we see the literature review, it becomes difficult to just confirmly identify and say about the top cancer causing food due to range of complexities involved. For answering such question, I believe a thorough study considering all the factors will be needed. Even if such study is conducted on rats or mice, I would say it would differ in reality with humans and also the tissues studied. Thus, we can just predict it.
