I am going to collect saliva from 30 persons at a remote area. This might take up to a week before returning to the lab. Can i place the samples in a freezer at a household there during that week? The saliva will be analysed for genomic and mitochondrial DNA extraction, methylation, in addition to Vitamins B test. It will be collected without a swap but by spitting in a 15mL Falcon Tube.

What are the biological materials which can be harmed in the saliva without suitable storage?
