I'm looking for ideas and suggestions about the latest thinking around inter-organizational collaboration "the collaboration between organizations." I'm asking because there seems to be a dearth of information about collaboration from this perspective ... Thoughts, hints, links, and even mild abuse are all welcome.
The philosophical perspective is useful in this context, and that includes thinking about this question: Is there a dividing line between voluntary / moral cooperation and forced / material cooperation?
There are other questions that I think are also helpful: Can these two types of cooperation be combined in a balanced way? Can we get away from ‘the iron cage‘ of ‘the market programming’ ?
Abdullah, I hadn't look at the problem in quite that way. If I look at it from a corporate culture perspective then I can see where you are heading. There are organizational cultures that are still trapped in the iron straight jacket of Talylorsim. Therefore the culture drives collaboration through a more directive approach. And more team-based organizations use more values-based approaches. But, I've also seen the problem of team-based organizations becoming brutal as well when their leadership is not of the best quality... What do you think?
Peter, I think that you need to adopt a multilevel perspective to be able to interpret this phenomenon, then to deal with it. The qualitative approach is very useful in your case.
