I happen to use 300 g and soak it in 1L of 95% ethanol.
Different researchers use different quantity. Most of the data showed 200-300gms in a liter. Some researchers used a kg as well.
Usually you need to do "complete extraction", so you can soak you powder completely and filter, repeat three times till complete extraction
Using 200 gms/litre solvent yields better result.
Good luck.
Hi
Try to use first extraction, one inch above the soaking level. it may consume 1:4 volume or higher depending upon bulk density and nature of the material etc.,
if subsequent wash needed then it can be reduce to 1: 4 as standard ratio.
all the best...
1:5 is the standard ration. You should have used 1.5 litres of solvent for 300 g powder for best result.
Thank you so much. Is it okay if i used 300 g and soak it in 1 L of 95% ethanol? If ever, would the ratio be 1:3 or 1:3.3?
Can anyone suggest a GC-MS or HPLC-MS analytical method to identify Acrolein in a solid sample (soluble in ethanol), without any pretreatement of the sample (no purge and trap, no SPME)?
